I was going through physical therapists like water when I finally stumbled upon Duquette Strength Clinic in Langley. In their facility, I found promotional literature on a program called the Postural Reprogramming System. The words "Tense? Sore? Tired?" initially caught my eyes and I just had to pick up the brochure. Although I have read countless articles dealing with the management of chronic pain, nothing seemed to address the root cause of the problem as well as this brochure.

Although the physiotherapist that I was seeing told me that I needed to work on my core strength, there was never any time to perform exercises after manipulating my joints for an hour. I soon found that I was becoming dependent on my physio and chiropractor visits because they were only treating symptoms and not the root cause of my suffering. I was only getting temporary relief from my pain but didn’t have any other options.

This is why the Postural Reprogramming System is so exceptional. The therapists at Duquette Strength are trained to see your body from a deep fascial and muscular level. They have created a unique system to strengthen weak muscle groups in order to keep your larger muscles from overcompensating.

The PRS not only helped realign my body, but allowed me to develop muscular control and body awareness to hold that change long after my treatment. Once I became educated about my body, I was given the tools to finally find myself on the right path to recovery. The PRS is truly a system designed to create long-term change; not just provide temporary relief.

It is necessary to understand that this wasn’t an ‘easy‘ journey for me by any means, but a journey that became easier to accept and work towards when I understood that the foundation was being built securely. This is no Band-aid fix. This is a system geared for people who are ready to challenge themselves both mentally and physically, ultimately leading to a high level of performance not just in sports, but in life.

I have to say over everything I have noted here, that self-awareness and taking responsibility for myself were the key components that started me on a path to self-healing. Once I made the decision to become strong and healthy again, the trainers and therapists at Duquette Strength helped rebuild my body from the inside out by incorporating a strong foundation of sports nutrition and proper training. I truly believe that their unique approach not only allowed me to properly rehabilitate my injuries, but more importantly helped me reconnect with my body.
